Aquonyx vs. Puronics: A Clear, No-Fee Start for New Dealers

Puronics says no franchise fees but publishes no start-up figure. Aquonyx publishes its terms: no joining or monthly fees, one pallet to start.

By Aquonyx Technical TeamPublished 10 min read

Before you commit to a water treatment brand, you want to know three things: what it costs to start, who stands behind the equipment, and what happens when a homeowner needs financing. Aquonyx answers all three up front. No joining or monthly fees. Your first order is one pallet. Applying is free [1]. Aquonyx backs its systems with a written Lifetime Limited Warranty [2]. Homeowner financing is available to apply for upon completion of the dealer agreement [3].

Aquonyx designs its systems and sells them exclusively to approved independent dealers, never directly to homeowners [4]. Puronics, a water treatment brand owned by Franklin Electric since April 2021, also works through independent dealers [5][6]. Here is how the two programs compare on the terms a dealer signs up for.

Key takeaways

  • Entry terms. No joining or monthly fees. Your first order is one pallet. Applying is free [1]. Puronics lists "No Franchise Fees" and says its program "requires minimal start-up costs" but does not publish a figure [6][7].
  • Warranty. Aquonyx backs its systems with a written Lifetime Limited Warranty [2]. On its Filtramax iGen C, Puronics offers a limited lifetime warranty on the entire system covering manufacturing defects and workmanship [8].
  • Financing. Homeowner financing is available to apply for upon completion of the dealer agreement [3]. Puronics offers homeowners a Puronics credit card issued by Synchrony Bank, subject to credit approval, with a $69 account activation fee [9].
  • Channel. Aquonyx is a dealer-only brand that never sells directly to homeowners [4], and approved dealers get training, technical resources and a dealer portal for quotes and ordering [1].

Who are Puronics and Aquonyx?

Puronics

Puronics traces its roots to the Ionics Consumer Water Products Group, founded in 1947, and became an independent company in 2006 [10]. Franklin Electric acquired it on April 1, 2021; at the time, Puronics served about 133 independent dealers with about 260 locations in 31 states [5]. It now sits alongside Hellenbrand among Franklin's water treatment brands [11].

Puronics sells proprietary water treatment systems through independent dealers. Its dealer program lists co-op advertising, a consumer financing program, a lead generation program, ongoing training and technical support, and no franchise fees [6].

Aquonyx

Aquonyx designs water treatment systems and sells them exclusively to approved independent dealers, never directly to homeowners [4]. Its softeners, whole-home filtration and reverse osmosis (RO) systems are made in America — built, filled, tested and packed at Aquonyx’s U.S. facility [12]. Dealers run their own businesses under a written dealer agreement and handle their own sales, installation, service, licensing and insurance [1].

Puronics and Aquonyx side by side

Both companies work with independent dealers. The table compares the terms that matter most to a dealer building an installation and service business. "Not published" means we could not find the figure on a public page; we do not estimate it.

A warranty the manufacturer backs

Aquonyx backs its systems with a written Lifetime Limited Warranty [2]. The system must be installed by an authorized Aquonyx dealer; ask for the full written terms before you sign.

A dealer-only brand

Aquonyx never sells directly to homeowners [4], so the conversation stays on sizing, installation and service. Its softeners, whole-home filtration and RO systems are made in America — built, filled, tested and packed at Aquonyx’s U.S. facility and arrive ready to install [12].

Financing for your customers

Homeowner financing is available to apply for upon completion of the dealer agreement [3]. Dealer payment and credit terms are set in the dealer agreement [1].

Your name on the system, and support behind you

Dealer-branded stickers come with your second order; request them before placing that order to allow time for design and printing [3]. You also get product and installation training, technical resources, and a dealer portal for quotes, ordering and order tracking [1], plus a free water softener sizing calculator [4].
